F1Life news.   june 2, 2007 - _thomas_

Last year I've been experimenting with different programming languages to find out which one would be best suited for the development of F1Life. I've decided to stick with Java. One of the things that influenced my final decision was that I'm developing other software in Java on a daily basis. So this is the language I'm most familiar with, thus this was a logical step. Originally F1Life started as a Delphi project, but as I quickly realized limitations of the graphical capabilities of Delphi. I couldn't find an alternative graphical library for Delphi that would suit the project's needs. I was thinking of migrating the project to C++ and DirectX. But then I thought - why not make F1Life platform independent. I was already an active Java programmer at this point, so the decision was pretty straight-forward. I started experimenting with ways to speed up the graphical interface in Java so that the project remains platform independent. OpenGL was the solution. So now F1Life is using OpenGL. Currently I'm working on parts of the game engine. Implementing the game logic will follow afterwards. Thus I don't have a release date yet.

Currently the game engine supports the following features (few of them are straight-forward things, one still has to implement them :) ):

- Fully platform independent (tested under Mac OS X and Windows)
- Loading and displaying of textures with OpenGL
- Easily expandable menu system
- Packaged resource file handling
- Sound support (Ogg and MP3)
- Multilanguage support
- Several modes support (different competitions, ie. Formula 1, Champcar)
- Switching mode during the game
- Internet updates

F1Career 5.6 is open source now!   may 1, 2007 - _thomas_

I've been planning to make F1Career an open-source project for a long time. Today I've decided to finally release it. You can find it in the download section. I should mention that back then, while I was working on the project, I wasn't familiar with few programming methods. F1Career is the first serious projects of mine which I actually did finish. Feel free to use the code as you see fit. You can even write a new manager game if you want to. It's up to you. I however cannot provide any support or assitance. The source code of the editors are also in the package.

The F1Career 5.5 patch is finished! We fixed many bugs and Rick wrote a great manual for F1Career 5.5 in English. The Hungarian version is the work of myself. We created some editors where you can edit the game elements like teams, drivers, sponsors, tracks... and... and...GIRLS! :)

New website launched!   april 12, 2006 - Gyula

Our brand-new website is online! No more tables and frames for us: this baby's 100 percent XHTML/CSS. The transition was pretty smooth, even though there might still be some minor bugs left in the code. The old structure had to be rearranged, but the new navigation is pretty straightforward, so I'm sure finding things isn't going to be a problem.

The Message Board is still the old one, but I already started redesigning it. Yet, it's fully operational, so go and flood us with questions :)

Check out the new Products sidebar on the right, from where you can get easier access to all of our software.

F1 Career & F1 Life   march 31, 2006 - Gyula

The development of our Formula 1 career manager game called F1 Career is over. Version 5.0 is already out and it will be the last release.

It's successor is called F1 Life, and we're already working on it non-stop. We originally wanted to do F1 Career 6.0, but we had so many new ideas, we decided to give it a fresh start, change the name and create a new game that will have an entirely different look and feel to it.

F1 Life inherits F1 Career's well-known gameplay and all of it's main features, but with a brand-new interface and a whole host of in-game improvements. Stay tuned for more!
